For people who talk for a living

Your voice is an instrument you were never taught to play.

You lecture, teach, present, preach or pitch. By Thursday your voice is tired; by Friday it is going. You have been told to project, but never shown how.

Most voiceover and most speaking is read. Thirty years on stage means mine is performed — and it means I can hear what is going wrong in someone else's delivery and explain how to fix it.

Voice coaching

What we work on:

  • Finding your optimal speaking pitch — where your voice works without effort
  • Breath support, so you stop running out halfway through a sentence
  • Projection that fills a room without strain or shouting
  • Clarity — being understood at the back, over the air conditioning
  • Pace, pause and emphasis: the difference between being heard and being listened to
  • A five-minute daily routine and a recovery plan for heavy weeks

Who it's for. Lecturers and teachers, trainers and facilitators, clergy, podcasters and broadcasters, lawyers and consultants — anyone presenting regularly.

Not for diagnosed voice disorders, persistent hoarseness or pain. That needs your GP and probably an ENT referral. I will tell you if I think that's what you need.

Sessions are 60 minutes, at my studio in Cambridge or online. Invoices provided — this is often covered by professional development budgets.
